lace scalloped bralette

Today you are getting another bralette post because my latest sewing project didn't go as planned. I promise I will still be sewing ready-to-wear, and hopefully will have some variety up on the blog soon. This bralette was my own pattern and I'm really proud of how this one turned out. I picked this fabric from Bra Making Supplies, which I won from Maddie. I should have snapped a photo of it, but on the sides where there isn't the scalloped edges have picot trim instead. I ran out of strap elastic so I used fold over elastic with a zigzag stitch. This one is lined with power mesh as well, which is just so soft and delicate looking.

The pattern for this bralette was fairly easy, I really only had to test to make sure the two triangles were large enough. It's very similar to my DIY post, but instead of making one triangle, I did the two version you typically see. Maybe it's time for a new one? Each cup is made of two triangles, and I made sure that the total width was 7 inches. To get 7 inches I just measured under my boob. I didn't add a lot of seam allowance because I was using the scalloped edge. Usually when making these I've made them way too small. For the band I just cut a long strip that was long enough to wrap around my body. I wanted to do a thinner band but didn't have the proper materials for that, so a band it was! Overall I'm thrilled with it!
