The Nijo Castle grounds are just what you would expect. Absolutely stunning and hard to imagine actually living in such luxury. Currently, many of the castles wall paintings from each room are reproductions. You can find the originals in a special 400th anniversary gallery set up on the castle grounds. If you visit during cherry blossom season and can't get enough of the sakura, be sure to visit the cherry blossoms grounds after you stroll through the castle.
