Forever 21 necklace, Free People sweater, DL1961 jeans c/o , JC Litas

I was contacted by Alyssa of DKC Public Relations asking if I was interested in taking part of the Invista Lycra challenge. Lycra is a fabric that supposedly keeps your jeans fitting better for a longer amount of time. I will be testing these jeans to see how true that statement holds! With an 8 year old brother I think I can run around with him and see how much these jeans can take. I'm glad I got this pair, because it was about time for me to retire those BDG jeans I've had for quite some time. The fit is great too, so I'd recommend them at this point if you are looking for some new jeans. Thanks, DKC!

Forever 21 shorts, Sam Edelman heels, JC Penney faux fur coat, Urban Outfitters sweater

I seem to have a real issue of dressing for weather appropriately. This Christmas here in San Diego was around 70 degrees and beautiful out. I thought I could get away wearing this jacket by pairing it with some shorts but I was proved wrong. I hope you all had a great holiday...

Self sewn jacket, Forever 21 blouse, Sam Edelman heels

I've been meaning to make this jacket for a long, long time. I probably could have easily made my own version of it, but I wanted to find a pattern so that it could be sewn properly. I've never worked with long faux fur and not that I wasn't expecting anything different, but that was a hassle! My living room floor is still covered in pieces of it. I took this project real slow so that I didn't risk messing it up, which often happens. It took a couple hours to cut and sew all the pieces together, but it was well worth the time. I also lined this one and did a well enough job that I'm contemplating sewing and selling this one, for real this time. I grabbed none other than my favorite Shelley in the world, Therapeutic Smiles, to take these photos for me. She's pretty much awesome!

Wore this outfit to buy some fabric for my new sewing project. The gal at the store suggested I made a Yeti suit with the fabric I purchased...

United Styles dress, Forever 21 heels, LF thigh highs, Target coat

United Styles contacted me asking me to check out their site, and order a design. They are one of those cool sites where you can pick a style, and customize to your liking. I've always been interested in these kinds of websites so I went for it. They have different shapes (I went with the Tokyo dress with added sleeves), patterns, and solid colors. I went for black as sort of a test run, because I was curious to see how the fabric looked with the final product. I tend to shy away from prints if I can't see them in person. I figured this dress would serve as a good base for many outfits during this winter. I was pleased with the outcome! An impressive aspect is that before they make the final product, they send you a test dress for you to try on to make sure that it fits right. The fabric is nice and it seems to be well made. I would like to see more types of clothing available, and maybe even different fabrics. Thanks, United Styles!

Arden B. faux fur vest, H&M blouse, Romwe purse, Aldo heels

Today I finished up my last class...least to say, I am thrilled to be on winter break! I'm hoping this will lead to more sewing and actually making a few DIY ideas swimming around in my head. I also plan on spending this time making gifs...

Holiday Shopping Guide

Monday, December 12, 2011

When asked what I want for Christmas, I have felt a little too old to being making such wishes. But, that doesn't mean I'm not guilty of keeping a shopping list of things that I would like to have in my closet. For fashionable college students out there, I feel that it's important to keep a concise list to keep yourself from over buying/spending. It also helps with research as far as prices and finding exactly the right piece. Here goes my first holiday guide!

Leather pants: Here I just pulled the same pair that Song of Style was wearing. We can see the pants in action and I think $59 is a fair price for a good looking pair. Leather pants are an easy way to spice up an outfit if you don't feel like wearing jeans. I just bought them...ASOS long faux fur coat

Long faux fur coat: Love a long faux fur coat, especially a collarless one. I'm still hunting for my favorite, but I do like this Asos one.Top row: Romwe Pleated in cream, Romwe Ruffle in black, Romwe Pleated in black

Short, pleated skirt: I enjoy wearing skirts because they are not only girly, but instead of being a dress you can really style and put together a whole outfit with a skirt.

Leather Pouch/Envelope Clutches: This American Apparel pouch is often seen on fashion bloggers, and I think for good reason. They can also serve as a good base for DIY projects, and they come in every color imaginable. J. Crew navy or yellow sweater

Striped Sweaters: There's something I find timeless/classic in a striped sweater.Luxirare Purse

The Splurge Item: If there was one thing that I could splurge on, it would be this Luxirare purse (rather, almost any Luxirare design). There are many different designer items that I lust after, but what I treasure most is that this is really a one of a kind purse. Plus, this girl inspires me like none other.>Happy shopping!
